How to Choose Silk Bedding: A Complete Guide

Silk bedding is one of the few upgrades you feel every single night — cooler sleep, smoother skin, calmer hair. But choosing well means understanding a few things sellers rarely explain. Here's the short, honest guide.

Start with the pillowcase

If you're new to silk, start here. A silk pillowcase is the single most cost-effective piece: it's where your face and hair spend the night, so the benefits — less friction, fewer creases, less frizz — are most noticeable. Many people buy a pair, then expand.

Building the full set

A complete silk bed is a duvet cover, flat and/or fitted sheets, and pillowcases. You don't have to buy everything at once — pillowcases first, then a duvet cover, then sheets is a natural order.

Momme matters even more for bedding

For bedding that lasts, look for 19 to 25 momme. Below that, silk feels thin and wears quickly; above, it can feel heavy. We weave at 22 momme in Grade 6A long-strand silk.

Getting the sizes right

Match the duvet cover to your duvet (e.g. 240×220 for a king duvet) and pillowcases to your pillow size. When in doubt, measure your existing bedding rather than guessing by "bed size", which varies by country.

Caring for silk bedding

Cold, gentle wash with a pH-neutral detergent, no bleach, dry flat or on low. Rotate two pillowcases so each rests between uses. Treated kindly, silk bedding lasts for years.
